Kharkiv and India deepen relations

 

It was discussed today, February, 7 during the meeting of Andrey Paramonov, the first deputy mayor of Kharkiv with Rajiv Chander, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India in Ukraine. 

 

"India has rich and ancient history, which is very interesting and informative for us. But we also have economic relationship that have positive changes. Therefore, the foreign trade turnover with India in 2011 was 77 million UAH, and in 2012 it gained 108 million UAH. Our plants "Turboatom" and "FED" export their products to India, have a long history of cooperation with your country. If honorary consulate of India opens in Kharkiv it will give us the opportunity of active cooperation with each other in the economic, social and cultural spheres, " - Andrey Paramonov said.

 

According to Rajiv Chander a large number of Indian healthcare products is exported to Kharkiv and the cooperation in agricultural sector develops. The number of Indian students studying in universities of Kharkiv has increased for the last two years and will  also increase in the future. The Ambassador also noted that a joint workshop in the field of education and the events on developing Indian culture in Kharkiv are planned to be held. 

 

The idea of opening honorary consulate in Kharkiv Rajiv Chander called attractive and told that the final decision on this would be taken by Government of India. The same is referred to the establishment of twin-city relations between Kharkiv and Indian city.
