Kharkiv and Novosibirsk arrange partnership relations

Since the 23rd to the 27th of June Kharkiv official delegation is in Novosibirsk (Russian Federation) which was invited by the municipality of this city. During the visit of Kharkiv delegation it is planned to sign the declaration of intents of cooperation between Kharkiv and Novosibirsk and kharkovites participation in the celebration events of the Day of Novosibirsk. The secretary of Kharkiv city council Alexander Novak, the head of the constant commission of the city council on the issues of city building, architecture and land relations Gabriel Mikhailov and the advisor of the mayor on issues of international cooperation Oleg Gubanov. Let’s remind that the dialogue between two cities was started in March of 2011, when the Ambassador of Ukraine in Russian Federation appealed to the mayor of Kharkiv Gennadiy Kernes with a proposal to support the initiative of Novosibirsk municipality about arranging the partnership relations with Kharkiv. In April the first official delegation of Novosibirsk headed by the deputy of the mayor Anatoliy Kornilov visited Kharkiv and the parties agreed to start the development of the charter documents which would fix the partnership of two cities legally. The cities Kharkiv and Novosibirsk have a lot of common in the issues of population, industry, education, science, place and part of the cities in social and economic development of their countries. Information. Novosibirsk is the third city in RF after Moskva and St. Petersburg in population (about 1,5 million people). It is a large industrial center. 214 big and average industry enterprises are the base of the industry complex. The leading industry branches are energetics, gas and water supplying, metallurgy, metalworking, machinery – they compose about 94% of the whole industry producing of the city. Novosibirsk is a large transport unit of Siberia: TransSiberian artery, railways and highways pass through it.  Novosibirsk unites Siberia, the Far East, Central Asia with the European regions of Russia. It is also a river port/ The city has two airports, one of them is international. The city passenger transport is represented by underground (2 lines, 13 stations), buses, trolley-buses, trams, route taxies. Novosibirsk gained the world fame owing to Novosibirsk Academic Town (Novosibirsk science center of Siberian department of Russian Academy of Science) on the territory of which dozens of science and research institutes, Novosibirsky State University (NSU), Physics and Mathematics school of NSU, the High College of Informatics of NSU etc. are located. Novosibirsk supports twin relations with seven cities in China, Korea, Kirgizia, Japan, USA and has a common with Kharkiv twin city – it is Varna in Bulgaria.
