One more «Third age university» is opened in Kharkiv

 

It was formed for the people of elderly age. The director of social services and care, Ludmyla Minaeva, informed that such kind of universities began to appear in Kharkiv about a year ago and now opened in all the territorial centers of the city. «The group consists of about 30 people. About 1200-1300 people made use of services of such universities in the first half-year period», - Ludmyla Minaeva told. 

 

The first lesson of the  cultural-creative faculty was held in the center. Its motto is «No to sclerosis!». To improve the memory of elderly people they propose to learn the poems and then to perform in front of the audience. The best poem readers get gifts. The retirees also learn songs and then sing them together.

 

According to the director of territorial center - Maryna Rajko, there are three more faculties except for the cultural-creative faculty. The faculties are Orthodox lessons, Law lessons and the faculty of healthy lifestyle. Lectures are held each Friday. The course of lessons on each faculty is about 72 hours. Upon completion of the course students get the certificate.

 

The director informed that if they get the sponsorship they will open one more faculty - information technology. «During the lessons students ask a lot of questions. We will interview what they would like to know. A lot of students ask about computers, how to use them, they don’t know how to use mobile phones so we try to introduce such a course», -  Maryna Rajko told. 

 

The lectures in «Third age university» give the university professors, priests, lawyers, pension foundation workers and others.
