Unique kidney transplant surgery is done in Kharkiv

 

The director of the center, the rector of Kharkiv National Medical university – Volodimir Lesovyj informed that on August, 15 was performed such an operation. It was first operation in Ukraine of such a kind. The patient – lady from Kharkiv region – feels well.

 

The patient – Vera Ananko, came through an operation on elimination of one kidney, herewith malignant tumor formed on a second kidney. The woman was in situation of elimination of second kidney and permanent hemodialysis. But doctors performed the most difficult operation: they took the kidney from the right side of the body, eliminated the tumor and transplanted the kidney to the left part of the body.

 

Colleagues from Kiev, Russia, Europe and USA has already congratulated Kharkiv physicians with the successfull performance of the operation.

 

The doctors of the center are preparing to carry such an operation to another two patients.

 

The deputy of the chairman of Kharkiv regional state administration Igor Shurma specified that performance of such a difficult urological operation has become possible due to high professionalism of Kharkiv physicians.
