Kharkiv awarded best volunteers of UEFA EURO 2012

The gathering was held in Zhuravlevskij hydro park on the place of tent camp for Dutch football fans.
 

According to the organizers, about 500 volunteers took part in the event. The mayor’s deputy on youth, family, sports questions and UEFA EURO 2012 preparations Oleksandr Popov awarded best volunteers with honorary certificates.
 

«You justified our confidence and hosted  EURO-2012 on the highest level. Everything that is being written on the Internet and in news media, thankful letters on the fans’ site, the letter from Michel Platini – all this is your merit as well. The part of your work reflected in the awards of the city mayor, the chairman of regional state administration, Kharkiv citizens who took part in UEFA EURO 2012 preparations. You managed, moreover, you managed all together, in a team. I want to thank you on behalf of the city mayor for your great job», - Oleksandr Popov addressed to the volunteers. 
 

He noted that the preparation to the tournament gave a powerful impulse to the volunteer movement and young people realized how interesting it is and how important they are for the city. Now volunteers will be involved in city projects.
 

Upon the completing of the official part of event following activities were proposed to the volunteers: «Go, go dance» (master class on Latin dance), «Simple the best» (performance of volunteer teams), «Football time» (one half football tournament), «Basketball station» (basketball competition), «Host city» (sand symbol contest «Kharkiv is the city of UEFA EURO 2012») and others. The disco party for the volunteers will be organized in the evening.
