Kharkiv has gained another partner city in the United States

Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov and Mayor of Dallas (Texas) Eric Johnson signed the declaration of partnership between the Cities online today, on the 6th of February.

The event was also attended by Consul General of Ukraine in Houston Vitalii Tarasiuk.

During the meeting, Erik Johnson mentioned that the resolution convicting the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine was adopted in Dallas in March 2022. According to him, Kharkiv and Dallas are moving to the next level of relations which involves cooperation in many areas after signing the partnership agreement.

In his turn, Ihor Terekhov thanked his colleague for the support of the Ukrainian people who are defending democratic values in the war.

"We appreciate your position regarding the invasion of the russian federation of Ukraine. The support of the US people is very important for us. Because we are defending democracy around the world and paying a very serious value for it today. I am confident that this agreement will be the impetus for the development of our relations. In the near future, our teams will develop a step-by-step cooperation plan that we will implement together," said the Mayor of Kharkiv.

After signing the agreement, Eric Johnson took the initiative to exchange the flags of the Cities. He noted that the flag of Kharkiv would be placed in the Mayor's office, in the room with the flags of the nations whose representatives have already visited Dallas.

"I will make an exception to the rules, and the flag of your City will be there as long as the war is on. And after the victory, you will come to our city and we will lower this flag together," he said.
