Smoking will be forbidden in cafes and restaurants after December, 16

 

Andrij Skriplaskyj, the head of the project "Ukraine without smoke pollution" told that this law will allow to fight with the problem of passive smoking. "Dividing cafes and restaurants to smoker and non-smoker zones hasn't justified itself as the smoke spreads all over", - the head of the project marked. Also Andrij Skripalskij emphasized that mostly the staff of the cafes suffers from passive smoking as they have to breathe the smoke all day long.

 

Each restaurant, cafe and bar-room has to remove the ash-pots and put the "No smoking" signs. For owners of the institutions that do not fulfill the norms of law there is financial penalty. And people smoking in the wrong place will have to pay the penalty as well.

 

Volodymyr Fedoseenko, the lawyer of inspection in defense of consumer rights emphasized that institutions will be regularly checked including unplanned visits. In addition, each resident who notices a violation can inform about it to the police or to the inspection in consumer protection issues.

 

The law extends to smoking not only usual cigarettes, but e-cigarettes and hookahs also. Smoking at the exit of cafes and restaurants, outdoor areas and terraces is not prohibited. Specialists informed that innovation should not affect the profitability of restaurants and cafes.
