Representatives of Kharkiv took part in the final conference of the cross-border project
The final conference of the cross-border project "Cities in the Wider European Area" and a workshop on the implementation of sustainable development practices in the municipal environment took place on 18-19 April in Uzhhorod (Zakarpattia Oblast).
The events were attended by experts from the partner city of Kosice (Slovak Republic), as well as representatives of Uzhhorod and Kharkiv City Council. They discussed a number of social projects, presented the scientific work of the expert teams, and confirmed their readiness for further cooperation.
According to Ivan Zahorodniak, Deputy Mayor of Uzhhorod, when the project started, no one could have imagined that Kharkiv would suffer such destruction as a result of russia's full-scale invasion.
"Nevertheless, I am sure that very soon we will be able to meet all together in the beautiful city of Kharkiv, whose powerful potential was presented a few weeks ago during the Kharkiv Days in Kosice," he said.
In turn, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department Yuliia Zghurska stressed that despite the completion of the project, the network of contacts that has been developed over the years of its implementation will continue to work for the benefit of the participating cities.
"For Kharkiv, the practical nature of this project is extremely important, when the signed agreements and memorandum are not just words, but are confirmed by the reliable shoulder of partners. Our cooperation covers all areas of urban life - from social entrepreneurship research to the exchange of leading visions in the aerospace industry," said Yuliia Zghurska.
