Flash mob against the violence was held on Svobody square

 

Within the campaign was held a youth flash mob with over hundreds of students out of several universities on November, 26. They depicted the act of violence, its victims, and holding tablets "Stop Violence" whistled their protest against any violent manifestations. 

 

"Violence takes many forms, and four major types are distinguished - physical, sexual, economic, and psychological violence. Students have represented the inadmissibility of any kind of violence, attracting attention of others to the topic, " -  Tatiana Korobkina, the manager of gender education Centre of Kharkiv national university of Radio Electronics, emphasized.

 

She also informed that until December, 10 there would be held various discussions, exhibitions in opposition to violence.

 

During 16 days of the campaign the following dates will be celebrated

 

November, 25 - International Day against violence against Women;

December, 1 - World AIDS Day;

December, 2 - International Day against Slavery;

December, 3 - International Day of People with disabilities;

December, 5 - International Volunteer Day;

December, 6 - the day of the students that were shot in Montreal in 1989;

December, 9 - The International Day against Corruption;

December, 10 - International Human Rights Day.

 

Note. International campaign "16 days against violence" was initiated in 1991 by the Center for Women's Global Leadership. Its aim is to draw public attention to pressing issues of Ukrainian society like violence in the family, to oppose human trafficking and child abuse, to strengthen partnership of government, civil society and all social institutions.
