“Metallist” stadium will be protected from football rioters during EURO-2012

Kharkiv is preparing to receive fans during the European Football Championship 2012 according to UEFA standards with a help of fan records.


The director of the Department on the issues of EURO-2012 preparing Alexander Nechiporenko informed of that on the 4th of January in press-center of Kharkiv city council.
“Similar records have already been created by football federations of countries-participants of EURO-2012. They have a strict regulation not to let such rioters out of the country. They have a black card in the clubs, they are not able to buy tickets or to pass face-control. Each football federation takes care of its reputation”, - the director of the Department noticed.
According to his words each national team is accompanied by police and safety service which take care of fans. Ukrainian stadiums are also guarded by the internal safety services.
“We are giving the stadium to UEFA management and they are preparing their volunteers (about 700-800 people) which are going to work according to UEFA regulations both in and out the stadium. UEFA thinks that neither militia nor other security agencies should work within the stadium. It is common European practice”, - Alexander Nechiporenko admitted.
He also said that in particular Dutch fans were famous with their peaceful mood. They are not aggressive and there are no conflicts with them usually.
In the same time about 2 thousand of MIF officers from Sumy, Dniepropetrovsk and Poltava regions are commanded to keep order in Kharkiv/
“They are taking relative courses, each pair of miitians will be accompanied by a city English speaking volunteer. Besides that there are also volunteers able to speak Portuguese, Dane and Flemish. About 90% of the volunteers speak English”, – Alexander Nechiporenko admitted.
He also noticed that the volunteers had been educated for a long time, UEFA had checked their work at Kharkiv objects of the championship.
