Kharkiv orphaned children received schoolbags and books

 

The directors of social services came to the feast to congratulate children with the beginning of the new school year. 140 children took part in the event. 70 of them are the first-graders.

 

«Our event dedicated to the Knowledge Day is held as a part of city program «Towards Children» and has already became a tradition. We give children schoolbags, books, school supplies and stationery. Within this program we deliver events to orphans, children deprived of parental care or those who are in difficult circumstances. Our goal is to give all children the opportunity to go to school, regardless financial abilities of their foster parents. So, on the one hand, it is a solemn event, and on the other, the implementation of the tasks of social services», -  the head of the Office of Children's Affair Oleksandr Mal’ko told.

 

He said that the program is also supported by the patrons who provide sponsorship for the purchase of uniforms and dresses for girls.

 

Oleksandr Mal’ko added that the program is running together with the All-Ukrainian project «Raid-lesson». In the course of it social workers visit the families who find themselves in difficult circumstances. Thus they identify cases where a child does not attend classes due to the fact that he has nothing to wear and to take to school. These children were also present at the presentation of gifts. The program «Raid-lesson» is held to the 20th of December.

 

The celebration was also attended by the deputy director of Health Department Margarita Golubova, heads of regional social services for children, teachers, heads of educational institutions of Kharkiv.

 

Upon completion of the solemn part children's creative teams performed on the stage.
