Ihor Terekhov: In communal issues, we need to move away from large-scale centralisation

To ensure Kharkiv's livelihoods during the war, differentiation in all areas is necessary.

This was stated by Mayor Ihor Terekhov in an interview with the LIGA.net online publication. According to him, at a time when the enemy is deliberately destroying the City's critical infrastructure, alternative options for supplying heat and water to homes are crucial.

"This heating season we have been working partly due to the fact that we have built modular boiler houses in residential neighbourhoods. Despite the blackout in the City, 40,000 people did not even feel it because we had installed alternative heating in preparation for the winter. Boiler houses were operating and switched to generators.  The differentiation of the heating network will be a priority in preparing for the new heating season to reduce the load on stationary large thermal power plants," said Ihor Terekhov.

According to the Mayor, Kharkiv is also considering alternative water supply options. One of them is well drilling.

"In times of war, differentiation is needed in all areas. This is a good recipe for solving problems with water, heat, and electricity supply. It's time to move away from large-scale centralisation as much as possible," said Ihor Terekhov.
