Ihor Terekhov held talks with the Czech delegation
On 21 December, Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, met with representatives of the Czech Republic.
The parties discussed areas of future cooperation between Kharkiv and the Czech Republic. In particular, in the coming months, the foreign partners plan to donate medical equipment to the City's perinatal centre and polyclinic No. 10 which was damaged by shelling of Northern Saltivka at the beginning of the full-scale war.
Ihor Terekhov noted that it is very important for Kharkiv to restore hospitals and develop the healthcare sector, as about 20% of the medical infrastructure has been damaged in some way.
"The City is the only link that provides primary healthcare to the citizens living here. Moreover, the number of citizens is constantly growing. There are more than 200,000 internally displaced persons in Kharkiv alone," said the Mayor.
In his turn, Marek Svoboda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Relations of the Czech Republic, said that the Czech Republic would provide training for Kharkiv doctors on how to use the new equipment.
"It is very important for us not only to hand over the relevant medical equipment, but also to train specialists to use it properly so that it can serve as long as possible. We see that people are returning to Kharkiv, and we want to do everything in our power to support this process," said Marek Svoboda.
