On 19 April, Mayor Igor Terekhov met with members of the Austrian Parliament.

The event was also attended by Ukrainian MPs Viktoriia Kinzburska and Bohdan Yaremenko.

The parties discussed the consequences of the latest rocket attack, the needs of the city and the resources needed to rebuild the destroyed residential and social infrastructure.

"Today, the biggest challenge for our city is the war. Yesterday alone, Kharkiv lost one person to an enemy missile attack, and more than a hundred others were wounded, including eight children. Residential buildings and a civilian enterprise were destroyed, and more than five thousand windows were smashed. And this is just one day. Our city needs help every day. It is very important that you have come to see it for yourself. Russian propaganda is spreading lies, claiming that it is shelling only military targets. In reality, civilian infrastructure is being destroyed and civilians are being killed. We do not hide the truth and want the world to know what Kharkiv is facing every day," said Igor Terekhov.

In his turn, Austrian MP David Stegmüller stressed that his team had come to Kharkiv to see the consequences of the war with their own eyes, understand the real scale of the tragedy and convey it to Austrian society.

"It is a deeply emotional experience to see how Ukrainians, despite the daily danger, hold on and continue to live. Representatives of the Socialists, Democrats and Liberals from our parliament are here today. We will return to Astria and tell them about what we have seen so that people in our country understand the challenges the Ukrainian people are going through," said David Stegmüller.

During the visit, the delegation also visited one of the underground schools where children study in safe conditions.

According to the Austrian MPs, in May, cinemas in Vienna will screen the film "What's Next?" by Daria Driuchenko, which tells the story of Kharkiv residents who lived in the subway for almost three months at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
