A requiem concert to mark the third anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion took place today, 24 February, at the Historical Museum metro station.
The event was attended by relatives and friends of the fallen soldiers, military personnel, representatives of law enforcement agencies and Kharkiv residents.
In particular, soldiers of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Kosh Ataman Ivan Sirko, the 93rd Separate Mechanised Brigade ‘Kholodnyi Yar’, the 127th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, as well as representatives of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, the National Police, the State Emergency Service and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine ‘Kraken’ unit joined the commemoration.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov addressed the audience. In his speech, he stressed that three years ago, the enemy intended to quickly capture Kharkiv, but the city survived thanks to the resilience of its residents and military.
‘We bow our heads to the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine. Thanks to their courage, our city remains Ukrainian. We will remember and honour those who gave the most precious thing - their lives - for our freedom,’ the mayor stressed.
The concert-requiem was performed by the symphony orchestra and choir of the Kharkiv National Academic Lysenko Opera and Ballet Theatre. Honoured artists of Ukraine also performed. During the event, photos of the fallen defenders of Kharkiv were shown on multimedia screens, which once again reminded us of the enormous price that Ukrainians pay for their freedom.
