World Science Day is celebrated in Kharkiv

In his speech, Igor Terekhov emphasised the importance of developing education even in the difficult conditions of war. He spoke about the construction of underground schools, which is being carried out at the expense of the city budget and funds allocated by the Ministry of Education to ensure safe full-time education for schoolchildren. The mayor also emphasised the need to create safe spaces for students and support universities, which remain an integral part of Kharkiv's life.

‘The city lives, works and is an outpost of Ukraine's struggle for independence. Despite the constant air raids and shelling, we are rebuilding. We are grateful to everyone who works and creates science for the present and future of Ukraine. Kharkiv is a centre of science, students and intellect. We have no right to lose this potential. Together with the central government, we must create comfortable and safe conditions for our universities so that Kharkiv remains a student and innovation centre,’ said Igor Terekhov.

At the end of the event, the mayor presented ten scientists with diplomas of the Kharkiv City Council.
