Construction of the following underground schools begins in Kharkiv
Construction of underground schools will soon begin in different districts of Kharkiv.
This was announced today, June 21, during a national telethon by Mayor Igor Terekhov.
He noted that enrollment in the first underground school built in the Industrial District has already been completed. Starting in the fall, 900 children will study there in two shifts.
"By September 1, several more such schools will appear in Kharkiv. We will start construction soon," said the mayor.
Gradually, underground schools will be built in all districts of the city. According to Igor Terekhov, as long as Kharkiv is suffering from attacks by Russia, this is the only possible way to ensure the safety of schoolchildren.
The mayor also said that Kharkiv is willing to share its experience in building underground schools with other frontline communities, including Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia.
