Kharkiv educators awarded with diplomas of the Verkhovna Rada

Today, on 20 March, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov and MP Viktoria Kinzburskaya presented certificates of appreciation from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to Kharkiv education workers for their significant contribution to the education of the younger generation during martial law.
Among the awardees were Olga Demenko, Director of the Department of Education, as well as heads and teachers of Kharkiv schools and employees of district education departments.
During the event, Igor Terekhov thanked the teachers for their tireless work and stressed the importance of the educational mission under martial law. He recalled the city's achievements in education, including the opening of the first underground school in Ukraine.
‘No words are enough to express our gratitude for what you are doing. Your feat is to teach children under fire, to give them knowledge and hope for the future. This cannot be overestimated,’ the mayor said.
He also touched upon the issue of reforming the educational system.
‘I am in favour of a cautious approach to reforms. It is not the right time to change anything in Kharkiv, to reduce schools or merge universities. We must take a balanced approach to such steps,’ said Igor Terekhov.
