Igor Terekhov discusses city reconstruction with Kharkiv students
A roundtable discussion with the participation of Mayor Igor Terekhov and representatives of student governments of 20 higher education institutions was held today, 18 March, in Kharkiv.
During the event, the mayor and young people discussed the city's reconstruction, including the involvement of architecture, urbanism and surveying students in reconstruction projects, the development of educational opportunities and the creation of safe spaces for learning.
Ihor Terekhov stressed that international partners are interested in rebuilding Kharkiv and negotiations are already underway to implement specific projects to restore the city's infrastructure. According to him, young professionals will play an important role in the reconstruction.
‘Young people are the future of Kharkiv. We need your ideas, your energy, and your vision for the city's recovery. We must do everything to ensure that young people not only stay in Kharkiv but also become its driving force. This applies to reconstruction, development of science and creation of new technologies,’ said Igor Terekhov.
According to the students, because of the war, many of them never had a chance to experience a full-fledged student life. They appealed to the mayor with a proposal to create new youth hubs and expand opportunities for internships.
