Igor Terekhov congratulated Karazin University on its 220th anniversary

Ihor Terekhov congratulated the students, teachers, researchers and alumni of the university on the significant event. He emphasised that the University plays an important role in the life of Kharkiv and the whole of Ukraine, being the centre of science, education and cultural development of the city.

‘Karazin University is the place around which Kharkiv grew and developed. Its walls remember outstanding scientists, innovators and discoverers. And today, despite all the challenges, it continues to live, teach and inspire. I am proud that Kharkiv has been and remains the intellectual centre of Ukraine. I am proud of everyone who, despite the anxiety, shelling and challenges of war, stays here - and works, studies, researches, creates. You are the ones who lay the foundation for our future. And I believe that everyone who was forced to leave temporarily will definitely return. We are celebrating today's landmark event thanks to our military, who defend our land every day. I know that after the war, we will revive the university together and rebuild everything that the enemy has destroyed,’ said Igor Terekhov.

Karazin University is the only university in Ukraine where three Nobel Prize winners have studied and worked: biologist Ilya Mechnikov, economist Semyon Kuznets and physicist Lev Landau.

Over the years, the university has graduated more than 180,000 students, including renowned scientists, statesmen, cultural figures, businessmen, and others.
