Classes have started in the underground school

The first underground school built in the Industrial District has started full-fledged classes today, on May 13.

According to Elena Zbitskaya, head of the Education Department of the Industrial District, just like in the subway, the underground school will be taught in a mixed format: children will attend some classes remotely and some in person. Thus, the underground school will hold three lessons for pupils in grades 1-4, and four lessons for older pupils.

Today, 230 children have started studying at this school. Starting September 1, 900 pupils, including more than 200 first-graders, will study there in two shifts.

"We tried to create the same conditions as in a regular school. That's why we have classrooms, a resource room for lessons with a psychologist and a pedagogical workshop where teachers gather in between lessons. There is also a cafeteria and a medical room," said Zbytska.

She also said that the underground school has been chosen as a site for the national multi-subject test.
