German partners to transfer cogeneration units to Kharkiv

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Eric Schweickhardt, head of the Urban Resilience Project in Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The signing ceremony took place today, June 10, at the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the eve of the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine.

According to Eric Schweickhardt, the planned project envisages cooperation in strengthening urban planning activities in Kharkiv, reconstruction of social housing, and provision of equipment that the city needs.

«We are also planning to launch a new direction on electronic reporting of all destructions. The main task today is to make sure that this project meets the real requirements of the city. We are very grateful to Kharkiv, which is heroically fighting for all of us. That is why we are ready to look for opportunities to help the city and provide everything it needs, even for urgent requests», - said Eric Schweickhardt.

In his turn, Igor Terekhov emphasized that the priority now is to decentralize the heat, water and energy supply systems.

Thanks to the memorandum signed, Kharkiv will receive four cogeneration units in July and August.

«Yes, this is not enough for a sustainable winter heating season. But we are very grateful for the help and support of our city. Kharkiv needs special attention. Therefore, we look forward to the speedy implementation of all our joint projects», - emphasized Igor Terekhov.

In addition, German partners will provide the necessary assistance in purchasing equipment for the Kharkiv metro school. In particular, by the beginning of the new school year, they plan to deliver furniture for classrooms at the Maselsky metro station.
