Today, on July 22, Mayor Igor Terekhov met with Jean-Noel Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, who arrived in Kharkiv on a working visit.
The delegation also included the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Gael Veyer.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation between Ukraine and France, as well as further support for Kharkiv in the context of the war. In addition, the delegation inspected the destruction of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, the Kharkiv Literary Museum and residential buildings in the central part of the city.
Igor Terekhov expressed his gratitude to France for its ongoing support, in particular for the generators provided to help the city survive the winter. The mayor noted that France is a reliable partner in restoring energy security and implementing energy decentralization projects in Kharkiv.
"Your support is a real contribution to our life and recovery. Thanks to the provided generators, we were able to get through the difficult winter, preserve vital infrastructure and provide public utilities. Thus, together we are building an “energy island” that will enable Kharkiv to become more resilient to enemy shelling," emphasized Igor Terekhov.Jean-Noël Barrot emphasized the importance of supporting Kharkiv and stressed that the city is an example of resilience and strength despite the constant attacks of the aggressor.
"The war continues not only at the frontline: civilian objects, residential buildings, and businesses are also affected. All these strikes are aimed at undermining the morale of people. Kharkiv, like other cities, receives support as part of a renovation project implemented by Schneider Electric, in particular to restore water and heating networks. Support is provided not only in the business sector, but also in the restoration of cultural facilities, including the Literary Museum," Jean-Noël Barrot said.
