Kharkiv and Bologna Renewed Their Friendship and Cooperation Agreement
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore signed a renewed Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between the two cities.
The signing took place during the mayor of Kharkiv’s working visit to Bologna.
Bologna is Kharkiv’s first sister city. The sister-city relationship between the two cities was officially established back in 1966. Since then, Kharkiv and Bologna have carried out joint cultural, educational, sports, medical, and economic initiatives.
The updated agreement provides for the further development of the partnership in the areas of culture, education, sports, youth policy, digital technologies, preservation of historical heritage, and architecture, as well as the exchange of expertise on the development of municipal infrastructure.
A separate area of cooperation involves support for Kharkiv’s children, humanitarian initiatives, and the implementation of joint projects aimed at assisting Kharkiv residents amid the war.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Bologna has repeatedly provided humanitarian aid to Kharkiv, supported residents with limited mobility, promoted cultural initiatives, and organized support programs for Kharkiv’s youngest residents.
The signing of the updated agreement is expected to strengthen practical cooperation between the cities and open up new opportunities for joint projects as part of Kharkiv’s recovery.
