Foreign partners to finance education in Kharkiv region

The Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France will allocate EUR 2 million to finance the needs of schools and equip storage facilities in educational institutions in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region.

This was announced by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Gael Veyer during his working visit to Kharkiv. He said that the funds will be used to repair schools, modernize shelters, and purchase innovative equipment for students.

«Kharkiv is a priority in this area. We plan to work in close coordination with the city council to respond to the city's needs in a meaningful way», - emphasized Gael Weser.

Ihor Terekhov noted that due to wartime circumstances, Kharkiv was forced to build the first underground school in Ukraine exclusively at the expense of the city budget. The project is now being implemented in other parts of the city.

«Subventions from the state budget in this area are aimed only at helping the Kharkiv region, while there are about 65 thousand schoolchildren in the city. This year, another 7 thousand first-graders will go to school. These are both Kharkiv residents and children who were forced to move to us from other regions with their families. Of course, they all need to study offline», - the mayor emphasized.
