Igor Terekhov met with the Ambassador of Montenegro

The Mayor Igor Terekhov held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to Ukraine Borjanka Simicevic today, on 3 June.
The mayor spoke about the challenges the city is facing in wartime, the destruction and damage caused by the Russian aggressor. In addition, Igor Terekhov thanked the people of Montenegro for their support of Kharkiv and the whole of Ukraine.
«Since the beginning of the war, about 12,000 buildings have been damaged in the city, including residential buildings, schools, hospitals, manufacturing plants, and critical infrastructure. More than 160,000 people have been left homeless. We are now working to restore everything the enemy has done. And we are very grateful for the humanitarian, political and military support of Montenegro and, in particular, our sister city Cetinje. Your support is very important for Kharkiv residents», - the mayor stressed.
For her part, Borjanka Simićević spoke about the projects already implemented and stressed her readiness for further cooperation.
«Kharkiv and Cetinje are very similar cities. They are the first capitals of their countries, they are centres of cultural heritage. Cetinje organises many events dedicated to Kharkiv. Also, children from Kharkiv have travelled to Montenegro three times for recreation. We are grateful for the cooperation and are confident that we will implement even more joint initiatives in the future», - said Borjanka Simicevic.
Also today, a reception was held with the participation of representatives of the Montenegrin diplomatic corps, the City Council, and Kharkiv entrepreneurs. During the event, Igor Terekhov spoke about the renaming of two place names in the city - Chornohirsky lane (formerly Krasnodarskiy lane 2) and Cetinje street (formerly Kromskaya street).
«These renamings are not just a name change. These are gestures of gratitude, mutual respect and recognition of the warm, twin ties that have developed between Kharkiv and Cetinje. During the war, these relations were further strengthened. Now Kharkiv is an outpost of Ukraine, and the support of our partners is very important to us», - the mayor said.
