Igor Terekhov met with the Minister of Defence of the Netherlands

In particular, the mayor focused on the need to protect Kharkiv from enemy shelling. He noted that in September alone, Russia attacked the city 53 times, resulting in the destruction of residential buildings, infrastructure, and most importantly, people were injured and killed. 

‘Our main task is to stop the shelling of Kharkiv, and then the citizens will live differently. The city is now home to about 1.2 million people, including almost 250,000 internally displaced people. We need to do everything to ensure that residential buildings have heat, water and electricity in winter. We have already developed a plan to decentralise the life support systems and are preparing for the heating season very carefully, but unfortunately, Russia can destroy what we are building now. That is why we need to protect the city from shelling,’ said Igor Terekhov.

The mayor thanked the Netherlands for their political, military and financial support and expressed hope for continued cooperation in the future.
