Igor Terekhov met with members of the German governing party
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov met with members of the Social Democratic Party in Nuremberg during his working visit to Germany.
The mayor thanked the German people for their support and noted that Ukraine still needs military assistance to protect Ukrainians and regain its territories. Igor Terekhov also said that during the full-scale war, Russia has damaged every second residential building and more than half of all schools and kindergartens in the city.
«This is a war for our right to be called a nation, for our European choice and for the democratic values of the whole world. To give you an idea of what kind of non-humans we are dealing with, I will give you just one example: 11 civilians, including a small child, were killed during the shelling of Kharkiv on 23 January this year. More than 70 others were hospitalised. Some of these people were sleeping at home in bed, some were out for a walk, some were returning from work. We need your help and victory in this war to prevent this from ever happening again», - said the mayor.
In her turn, Diana Liberova, a member of the Nuremberg local council, said that members of the Social Democratic Party and the city's mayor's office are ready to continue to contribute to the restoration of Kharkiv and support the displaced people.
«Our brotherhood relations are very important to us. And even back in the 1990s, when we first started our cooperation, peace was the main thing for us. And we share your aspirations that there should be no fatigue from the war, but only courage, strength and endurance that can put the aggressor in his place», - Diana Liberova said.
Igor Terekhov also met with members of the Green Party faction of the Nuremberg City Council.
