Igor Terekhov: Kharkiv counts on strong support from the Netherlands

The Kingdom of the Netherlands will help strengthen the defence of the city of Kharkiv.

In particular, this was discussed during a recent meeting between Mayor Igor Terekhov and Dutch Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans.

Today, on 8 October, during a national telethon, the mayor noted that this was not the first visit of Dutch officials to Kharkiv. Igor Terekhov reminded that in March, the then Prime Minister of the Netherlands and now NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited the city.

‘This time, we also had a serious conversation about the defence of Kharkiv. The Minister got acquainted with the serious destruction of both residential buildings and critical infrastructure. We talked about organising the defence of Kharkiv so that the Russians could not shell our city. The Minister promised to help. I am very grateful to the Dutch government and the Dutch people for their political, financial and military support. In particular, during this visit, it was announced that the first F-16 fighter jets would be delivered to Ukraine. This is very important for us. I hope the Netherlands will continue to support Kharkiv and Ukraine,’ said Igor Terekhov.
