Igor Terekhov: Kharkiv is preparing projects for post-war reconstruction

The Kharkiv city authorities are actively cooperating with international partners to prepare reconstruction projects.
This was told to journalists today, March 5, at the Third Luxembourg-Ukraine Business Forum «Ukraine Resilience Business Forum» by the mayor Igor Terekhov.
The mayor noted that one of the main issues for Kharkiv remains stability in the energy sector. According to him, despite regular enemy attacks, the city has been steadily going through the heating season thanks to the work that has been carried out in this area since 2022.
«In addition, we are implementing other projects. This is the construction of the metro, the purchase of rolling stock and electric buses. Today, important negotiations will be held with the deputy head of the European Investment Bank. We want to agree on financing for the reconstruction of housing. This is an extremely important issue both now and in the future», - Igor Terekhov noted.
As the mayor said, it is not only about grants, but also about attracting credit funds. Thus, the city hall is cooperating with the German government on a project to build municipal housing.
«This will give us the opportunity to build affordable housing. Today, about 8.2 thousand buildings have been destroyed or damaged in Kharkiv. Therefore, reconstruction is the main thing. Yes, large investors will not come to us today, but we are negotiating and laying the foundation for the future so that after the war we can implement all these projects as soon as possible», - the mayor emphasized.
