Igor Terekhov held talks with representatives of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov, who is on a business trip to the partner city of Nuremberg (Germany), discussed opportunities for cooperation between German and Kharkiv businesses with the Executive Director of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry Markus Letsch and the Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the organisation Christian Hartmann.
During the talks, the parties focused on the key elements required to attract foreign direct investment in Kharkiv's recovery. Igor Terekhov suggested that the representatives of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry consider expanding their activities in Ukraine and Kharkiv. The mayor stressed that, despite the war, the city is now able to meet the needs of German companies for qualified personnel.
«We all need to create an economic model for the recovery of Ukraine and Kharkiv right now and be fully prepared to rebuild everything that the enemy has destroyed as soon as the war is over. And you, as the organisation most aware of the needs of your entrepreneurs, can become a link that will establish systematic and fruitful cooperation between German business and our city. Despite the war and extensive destruction, we have preserved our universities, vocational education institutions and, most importantly, our teaching staff», - said Igor Terekhov.
According to Markus Letsch, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry has 150,000 members from across the country, the vast majority of whom are small and medium-sized businesses. He also stressed that the existence of a developed system of vocational education in a particular community is one of the main arguments for German investors in Ukraine.
«We support your cooperation with Nuremberg at the municipal level. This makes it very easy to implement many projects. And when the war is over, I am sure that a lot of investments will be made in Ukraine. But the main role will be played by specialists who will be able to work at certain enterprises. After all, investors will hire people locally, and the intellectual resource and the existing vocational education system, similar to the one in Germany, are a huge advantage for them», - said Markus Letsch.
