Igor Terekhov held negotiations with UNICEF representatives

Today, on February 13, Mayor Igor Terekhov met with the head of the UNICEF Office in Kharkiv, Jinan Ramadan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed increasing the number of safe spaces for organizing offline learning for children, improving the quality of drinking water, as well as programs for the development and support of internally displaced persons. They also summed up the results of the past year and identified areas of cooperation for 2025.
Igor Terekhov thanked UNICEF for the work done and partnership, emphasizing that the city pays special attention to supporting internally displaced persons. According to him, today there are 206 thousand internally displaced persons in the city, including more than 20 thousand children.
«They also need to be educated. They lost their homes, things - everything they had. They do not have their own place where they can study, work. And this is very important for them - both for their socialization and for their psychological state, so that they do not feel abandoned. We aim to implement new projects in this direction», - the mayor said.
Igor Terekhov also emphasized that the city continues to provide social guarantees for all residents: 46 thousand people receive free hot meals every day, and all public transport has been free for the population since May 2022.
For their part, UNICEF representatives assured the mayor of further support for the initiatives launched and offered to join a number of other social programs. Jinan Ramadan emphasized the importance of coordinating joint efforts to ensure comprehensive support for children and IDPs.
«We have various programs that will help doctors and children who have lost access to medical and educational services. We are also ready to offer mini-grants to improve social services. Kharkiv has great potential in this area, and we hope for effective cooperation», - said Jinan Ramadan.
