Igor Terekhov held talks with the Mayor of Strasbourg
Today, on June 18, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov held an online meeting with the mayor of the French city of Strasbourg, Jeanne Barseghian.
The parties discussed the urgent needs of Kharkiv and the establishment of partnerships between the cities.
Ihor Terekhov told his French counterpart what challenges Kharkiv faced during the last heating season and how it is now preparing for the winter. The mayor noted that the city authorities are decentralizing energy, water, and heat supply systems and need expensive equipment, including cogeneration units.
Jeanne Barseghian noted that Strasbourg will try to increase assistance in this area. In addition, the French city has recently confirmed its readiness to take children from Kharkiv region on vacation.
Igor Terekhov also took the initiative to sign a partnership agreement between the cities. In her turn, Zhanna Barseghian proposed to expand this perspective and conclude a trilateral agreement between Kharkiv, Strasbourg and the German city of Cologne, which has also been actively supporting Kharkiv residents since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. In particular, these cities have been sending medicines, hygiene products, stoves for «invincibility points», fire trucks, etc. to Kharkiv.
«I am confident that today's conversation will be an impetus for the development of our partnership. We will follow the path of democracy and European integration together», - said Igor Terekhov.
