Igor Terekhov discusses Kharkiv's recovery with international partners

Today, on 19 September, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov discussed further plans for the reconstruction of the city with international humanitarian and charitable foundations and organisations.

The meeting was held via video conference. The meeting was attended by representatives of UNHCR, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Shelter Cluster, the humanitarian organisation ‘People in Need’ and others. The parties discussed the timeline for the implementation of the launched projects and identified new priorities for cooperation.

Igor Terekhov expressed his gratitude for the city's ongoing support and stressed the importance of completing the repairs to the damaged housing before the winter season.

‘Thank you from the city of Kharkiv for the support you provide and for the quick response to all our requests. Each explosion means hundreds of broken windows and damaged roofs. Today, we are actively working to ensure that all Kharkiv residents have heat, water and electricity in winter, but it is also very important that we complete the projects to repair apartments and close the circuits that are currently in operation before the start of the heating season,’ the mayor stressed.

According to the Shelter Cluster Coordinator in Ukraine, Renee Weinwin, all partners continue to provide systematic support to Kharkiv residents, with most of the restoration work being carried out in residential buildings.
‘We are paying full attention to closing the circuits. We are following the schedule and plan that we approved with the city in July,’ said Renee Weinwin.
