Igor Terekhov discusses barrier-free projects with the Mayor of Paris

On 4 September, during a working trip to France, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov met with Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.
The first introductory event was dedicated to the general areas of barrier-free accessibility and the capabilities of Ukrainian cities to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities in the context of recovery. The mayor's office also hosted a presentation of Paris' own accessibility strategy.
In turn, Igor Terekhov noted that in July this year, Kharkiv created a separate Department of Inclusive Accessibility and Barrier-Free Environment to provide convenient and user-friendly infrastructure for all categories of the population.
«Now the newly created department is working on filling the existing interactive map ‘Kharkiv is accessible’. It will allow us to constantly inform the community about the state of accessibility and barrier-free urban infrastructure. And the experience of foreign cities, including Paris, which rethought the urban space in a completely different way in preparation for the Olympic Games, is very important to us», - the mayor said.
The exchange of experience between the cities takes place at the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and at the invitation of the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo. It is coordinated by the Embassy of Ukraine in France and UNDP in Ukraine with financial support from the governments of France and Sweden.
