Igor Terekhov: Dallas is ready to support Kharkiv as a twin city

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov summed up the results of his working visit to Dallas (USA).

The mayor said he had held a number of productive meetings. In particular, he spoke with Mayor Eric Johnson and members of the Dallas City Council. During the conversation, Igor Terekhov focused on the numerous destructions in Ukrainian cities and the challenges faced by their residents in the context of the war unleashed by the russian aggressor.

‘Dallas was one of the first American cities which pass a resolution condemning the russian federation's invasion of Ukraine. When I arrived there, I was amazed by the number of Ukrainian flags that the locals had hung on their houses as a sign of support for Ukrainians,’ said Igor Terekhov.

The mayor also spoke to students of an American university, held talks with its management, met with the Ukrainian diaspora and representatives of a local non-government organisation. He also spoke with business representatives who are ready to join the implementation of post-war projects in Kharkiv.

‘After these meetings, I became convinced that Dallas will help Kharkiv as its partner city. In addition, we need political support and the formation of a true understanding of the war in Ukraine by the international community. Specific negotiations were also held on reconstruction projects. The state of Texas, where Dallas is located, has a very strong economy, so we will attract investors from there to rebuild our city,’ said Igor Terekhov.
