International cooperation

Today, 15 June, Mayor Ihor Terekhov met with Maria Lucia Caram Padilla, Director of the Santa Clara Monastery Foundation (Barcelona, Spain), and representatives of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The parties discussed Kharkiv's current public transport needs, prospects for international cooperation, and mechanisms for improving infrastructure through the fund's support.
In particular, this year the city has already received eight passenger buses from the Santa Clara Fund. In the near future, after the completion of the paperwork and technical adaptation, they will be put into service on city routes.
Igor Terekhov spoke about the consequences of shelling by the aggressor country and the losses suffered by the city in the areas of housing and transport. The mayor also stressed the importance of maintaining free travel on public transport as part of social protection for the population.
"Over the past few weeks, Kharkiv has been under constant shelling. More than 120 residential buildings have been damaged, and, unfortunately, there have been casualties. The transport infrastructure has been particularly affected: there have been explosions near trolleybuses. One trolleybus has been completely destroyed, and more than two dozen have been damaged. In total, about 65% of the city's transport infrastructure has been damaged since the start of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. Despite this, we are maintaining free travel on all types of public transport. It is our duty to the people of Kharkiv to support them in these difficult times," said Ihor Terekhov.
In turn, Maria Lucia Karam Padiya emphasised her desire to develop the partnership and provide further assistance.
"I will do everything I can to support the development of partnership relations between Barcelona and Kharkiv. I have already conveyed this wish to the mayor of Barcelona. I am confident that together we can do even more, in particular, continue to provide buses and help hospitals. I will work to ensure that this assistance only increases," said the director of the foundation.
During the visit, the delegation inspected one of the damaged tram depots and then attended the graduation party of Kharkiv schoolchildren.
