Austrian partners hand over generators and equipment to Kharkiv

Today, on 15 August, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov met with Michael Facekas, Executive Director of the Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI), and Karl von Habsburg-Lorraine, Grand Master of the Society of the Knights of the Order of St George.

During the meeting, they discussed the transfer of 125 generators to Kharkiv for medical institutions, schools, orphanages, nursing homes, etc. The city also received 150 laptops for schools and the public sector.

In addition, the parties discussed a number of issues related to the needs of Kharkiv, which regularly suffers from enemy attacks. According to Igor Terekhov, the key task of the city authorities is to prepare for the heating season, including decentralisation of heat, power and water supply systems, as well as the construction of underground schools where children can study offline.

‘The situation in Kharkiv is difficult now because the border with the aggressor is very close. Therefore, we need timely attention and support. I am very grateful for your help and look forward to fruitful cooperation,’ said the mayor.
In turn, Michael Fatsekas said that their organisation is ready to help Kharkiv in the future, including developing new projects aimed at supporting Kharkiv residents.

‘Our organisation is open to discussing various projects that the city may need. In particular, we are ready to help raise funds for the implementation of decentralisation projects for life support systems before the start of the heating season,’ said Michael Fatsekas.
