Government to provide assistance to Kharkiv

On 12 April, Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov took part in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.
The meeting was chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting was dedicated to the urgent needs of Kharkiv and other regions affected by missile attacks on energy infrastructure.
Ihor Terekhov noted that during the previous massive shelling, one of the local thermal power plants was completely destroyed. He added that utilities and power engineers are currently working hard to stabilise the situation in the City and to level the schedules of power outages.
"There is a power shortage, it is noticeable, but we have managed to ensure that all the City's electric transport is working. Now, it is important to ensure strict adherence to the schedules for the population. At the same time, we continue to seek the support of our international partners in strengthening the protection of the sky and work on preparations for the new heating season. I am grateful to the President, the Cabinet of Ministers and all the regions that are helping us to survive in these difficult times," the Mayor said.
For his part, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced the preferences that will be granted to Kharkiv businesses and the transfer of energy equipment to Kharkiv.
"We will do everything necessary to support Kharkiv business. First of all, grants will be increased to UAH 500,000. We are currently working out other steps with the city authorities. We will also provide Kharkiv with mobile thermal power plants, generators and cogeneration units. This should improve the situation with energy supply," said Denys Shmyhal.
