International competition for the restoration of Northern Saltivka has started

The Kharkiv City Council, together with the Norman Foster Foundation, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the Arup company and the Kharkivproekt institute, has announced an international competition for the restoration of Northern Saltivka.

This was announced today, 8 May, by Mayor Ihor Terekhov on his social networks.

According to him, the competition will be held within the framework of the project "Concept of the Master Plan of the City of Kharkiv". The main task will be to develop a programme for the modernisation of damaged apartment buildings to improve their safety and energy efficiency, as well as to create a comfortable public space around them.

"We invite architects, urban planners, engineers and designers from all over the world to participate. The winners' projects will not only be implemented, but also applied in other locations of the community," said Ihor Terekhov.

The Mayor noted that all communication, including the presentation, will be in English. The deadline for applications is 12 September 2024. For more information, please follow the link.
