Project of Kharkiv's first underground school in Ukraine presented at the forum «Reconstruction in Action»

Tatiana Stolyarenko, director of the Kharkiv Investment Agency, spoke at the «Reconstruction in Action» forum and workshop, which is taking place in Kyiv on 14-16 February, about the project of an underground school in Kharkiv.
She said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 241 educational institutions have been destroyed in the city. To enable students to study full-time, 19 classrooms were opened at five Kharkiv metro stations as part of the underground school project. The first wave of those wishing to study offline consisted of 700 students, and today there are more than two thousand of them.
«Safety comes first. But we also need to equip educational space facilities, which are currently insufficient», - said Tatiana Stolyarenko.
According to her, in order to expand the capabilities of the educational system, the city has launched a unique and first in Ukraine project of an underground school on the initiative of mayor Ihor Terekhov. Such a facility is currently under construction in the Industrialnyi District. It will accommodate 450 students in two shifts. Later, such underground schools are planned to be built in all districts of Kharkiv.
The «Reconstruction in Action» forum and workshop is a presentation of national and international programmes for the reconstruction and development of the affected areas. It features reconstruction projects implemented by communities and tenders for construction companies, financial programmes for communities and business support, and current reconstruction vacancies.
