Norman Foster’s team will present five comprehensive strategies for Kharkiv
In cooperation with international and local teams, five pilot projects and five comprehensive strategies will be presented that will form the basis of the new Kharkiv City Master Plan.
This was announced today, February 3, at a press meeting on proposals to amend the Master Plan by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. According to him, the team of the British architect Norman Foster Foundation will present pilot projects in the following areas: cultural heritage, residential sector, industry, scientific quarter, rivers, and green areas. Five comprehensive urban strategies will also be developed: transport, energy, water, and natural environment, and redevelopment of outdated administrative districts.
The Mayor also said that within the framework of this cooperation, work is underway to create a full 3D model of Kharkiv and residential areas which will provide a virtual and physical model of the City with accurate sizes, shapes, appearance of objects, and other detailed characteristics for the further presentation of new development projects, reconstruction of housing and other urban facilities.
‘Today, we are working very hard with Lord Foster’s group on this topic in order to implement the most comfortable and cost-effective method of restoring and building new housing in accordance with modern European standards. And in this direction, it is planned to provide the City of Kharkiv with a pilot concept from the Norman Foster Group,’ said Ihor Terekhov.
The head of the City also noted that a website will soon be presented to the public which will be used to further inform about the work on the Kharkiv Master Plan.
