Ihor Terekhov: Renaming place names is required not only by law, but also by society

In an interview with Ukrainian Radio. Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that Kharkiv residents are just beginning to get used to the new names on the city map, so it is too early to say that they have already been accepted. However, many citizens approve of the renaming of place names.  

«The war has changed a lot, including people's mentality and worldview. Renaming is an inevitable process required not only by law but also by society. We are working with the public in a balanced manner, trying to make the place name changes as gentle as possible to make people feel comfortable», - said Igor Terekhov. 

The mayor also said that some of the streets that have not yet been renamed are planned to be named in honour of the defenders of Ukraine.
