Ihor Terekhov: Kharkiv will withstand all challenges

Following massive hostile shelling of critical infrastructure, the City of Kharkiv was completely cut off from electricity today, 22 March.

Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov said during the national telethon that there is still no electricity supply. Power engineers and utilities are working to restore power to homes as soon as possible. According to the mayor, the work will continue round the clock.

The head of the Сity noted that specialists have managed to restore water supply, but with a reduced pressure. In addition, 40,000 subscribers have heat in their homes as autonomous power supplies were installed at some boiler houses in preparation for the heating season and possible blackouts.

"At five in the morning, we opened our 'points of invincibility'. People can use the internet, charge their gadgets, drink tea, etc. They will work round the clock. In addition, municipal buses have been running instead of electric vehicles due to the power outage. They will continue to run tomorrow. There are also some difficulties with mobile connection and the Internet. But we have faced many challenges, so we will overcome this one. Kharkiv is made of reinforced concrete!" said Ihor Terekhov.
