Igor Terekhov: Kharkiv was the first in Ukraine to start cooperation with a military trade union

According to Igor Terekhov, it is important for the city that this interaction is not only formal. And Kharkiv is already offering vacant jobs in the utility sector to defenders who have returned from the frontline.

‘You are doing very important things. This is the rehabilitation and socialisation of our guys and girls, and the organisation of assistance to all military personnel. When defenders return to civilian life, they need to work somewhere, earn money, and feed their families. They defend the state and expect the state to support them. You can always count on me as mayor. We will do everything necessary, and we have the resources to do so. Today's memorandum, which Kharkiv is the first city in Ukraine to sign, is just the first step towards continuing this work,’ the mayor said. 

According to the head of the military trade union, Serhiy Byzov, the organisation already has about 100,000 members, of which 76,000 are active servicemen.

‘We are now focusing on employment, we have written letters to the business community. Also, more than 14,000 defenders, members of the organisation, have been able to undergo rehabilitation, up to two thousand of them at the expense of the trade union. We are grateful to you as the mayor, who was the first to meet the military in this area of cooperation,’ said Sergey Byzov.
