Ihor Terekhov: All houses should have utilities in winter

As part of preparations for the heating season, 141 units of equipment necessary for the decentralisation of life support systems will be installed in Kharkiv by the end of this year.

According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, cogeneration and gas turbine units, transformers and modular boiler houses will be installed.

‘The winter period will be difficult, so we are preparing very carefully for the heating season. We need to ensure that every house in every neighbourhood has heat, light and water. We have calculated the voltage that will be required for this, taking into account the number of residents in the houses. The private sector has a completely different system. They have their own heating, so the main goal is to provide gas supply,’ the mayor said.

According to him, about UAH 2 billion was allocated from the city budget for the decentralisation project, and the government provided the same amount. In addition, negotiations have been held with the World Bank and other international financial institutions that will provide funds and purchase the necessary equipment.

‘The vast majority of plants will be ready for the start of the heating season. And if we receive timely deliveries, we will be able to complete all the work by the end of this year,’ said Igor Terekhov.
