Igor Terekhov spoke about the consequences of the daytime shelling of Kharkiv

Today, on 30 August, the Russian aggressor struck several districts of Kharkiv.

According to preliminary information, five people were killed, including a 14-year-old girl, and 40 other Kharkiv residents were wounded in the attacks, Mayor Igor Terekhov said on the air of the national telethon.

According to the mayor, the strikes hit civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and a children's playground. One of the guided aerial bombs hit a high-rise building, causing a fire. Rescue operations are currently underway at the scene. All residents who need it will be provided with accommodation in dormitories.

The mayor noted that if Kharkiv had modern air defence systems, the cynical shelling of civilians could have been avoided.

‘Houses were destroyed, Kharkiv residents were killed, including a child. This is terrible, and it is a crime of the Russian Federation. We urgently need modern air defence systems to avoid incidents like today,’ said Igor Terekhov.

The mayor also said that the electricity supply, which had been interrupted as a result of the shelling in some areas, has been almost completely restored.
