Igor Terekhov: Work on restoring the city is ongoing

Kharkiv is working continuously to restore damaged buildings and infrastructure.

Today, on June 20, during a national telethon, Mayor Igor Terekhov noted that due to the extent of the destruction, it is impossible to immediately restore everything damaged by the Russian aggressor.

"We are constantly working on this. Of course, it is impossible to eliminate all the destruction at once, as more than 9,000 buildings have been damaged. Their restoration requires huge funds and a huge human resource," the mayor said.

According to him, compared to May, the number of attacks has decreased, but the enemy continues to terrorize Kharkiv residents. For example, the day before, Russians attacked Kharkiv with three air bombs, damaging a children's camp and a residential building, and injuring two women.

Along with the restoration of the residential sector, the mayor said, preparations for the heating season are underway. According to Igor Terekhov, the city receives significant financial support. In particular, Kharkiv will receive a EUR 25 million loan from the EBRD to restore the energy sector and purchase the necessary equipment. In addition, the World Bank will provide a grant of 47 million euros for these purposes.

"We also have a lot of help from USAID, which is also purchasing power plants for us. We also attract funds from the city budget. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 2 billion to prepare Kharkiv for the heating season," said Igor Terekhov.
