Igor Terekhov: Young people must see a future in their community

The return of Ukrainians home after forced evacuation is the main challenge for the country, but at the same time a great opportunity for its development.

This was stated by Mayor Ihor Terekhov today, 18 September, during the forum ‘Strategic Dimensions of Outpost Cities’.

According to him, there are currently about 5 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine, and another 7 million have been forced to leave the country.
‘We are not just waiting for them to return. We must create the conditions and opportunities for this. We need to be prepared for people to make higher demands and strive for higher standards. This is good because it is a good stimulus for development,’ the mayor stressed.

Ihor Terekhov stressed that in order for Ukrainians, especially young people, to return, it is necessary to provide affordable and energy-efficient housing, jobs, entrepreneurship development, modern education, healthcare and security.

‘Young people must see a future in their community,’ the mayor emphasised.
