Ihor Terekhov: The main issue in international negotiations is the supply of air defence systems
The primary issue that the city authorities focus on during negotiations with foreign delegations is the protection of the sky over Kharkiv.
Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov said this in an interview with Rada TV channel today, 9 May.
The Mayor said that Kharkiv is visited, in particular, by European diplomats who are aware of the importance of providing air defence systems.
"Human lives depend on the protection of the sky over Kharkiv. Therefore, our partners are ready to provide the necessary equipment. But they do not send it to a specific city, but to the military, who in turn distribute air defence systems across the country where they are needed," the Mayor said.
Ihor Terekhov stressed that in the process of creating Kharkiv recovery projects, experts are focusing on the construction of underground safe spaces.
"In particular, an underground school will start operating next week. This example should be used to create kindergartens, work and leisure facilities. Unfortunately, we are forced to take such steps because we understand that the threat from Russia will not disappear even after our victory," said Ihor Terekhov.
